The 2011 Christchurch earthquakes were the catalyst for Bryce to ditch the corporate life and launch Green Therapy. "The events of 2011 were a "wake up moment" and my passion for gardening, developed over the years with the help of a green fingered father and a Horticultural Science degree from Lincoln University, were transferred into a business where we get to work with nature and craft creative outdoor solutions for our clients" Bryce loves working with a diverse team of people who are passionate about what they create. “Every site and project has unique challenges and it’s a joy every day to see the team’s imagination move from design concept to an amazing outdoor space". When not listening to music, reading or watching sports Bryce works on his ever growing travel bucket list and occasionally gets to tick a few of them off with his family!
As a recent Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) graduate, Jen has extended her 20+ years of 2D graphic design skills into 3D-built and landscaped environments, focusing on sustainable and regenerative design. Jen brings a wealth of design knowledge and creativity to the team, including a deep appreciation for the ever-changing flora in the natural world. On walks around town, the surrounding Port Hills and beyond, she will often stop to inspect the intricate details of plants and nature. In her spare time, Jen has a talent for hand-building furnishings. She also loves to develop her creative skills through her artwork (painting and drawing). Travelling with her family is especially important, as she cherishes creating beautiful memories and expanding her life/cultural experiences.
Project Co-ordinator & Landscaping Specialist
Alysha is passionate about working outside, with plants and small building projects. She has a great eye for detail and diverse practical skills, with extensive landscaping experience. “Seeing the transformation of a garden makeover and watching new gardens take shape is very rewarding and a lot of fun. An aspect of the job I love is imagining how each garden will grow and develop over time." Learning about plants, how to combine textures, colours and their growth habits, is an aspect of the job Alysha finds particularly interesting. "Bringing to reality the impressive designs our team creates, is a pleasure, involves plenty of hard work and often a puzzle or two to keep us on our toes! Combine that with working alongside a talented, passionate team, makes for a great atmosphere at Green Therapy". In her spare time, Alysha enjoys cycling, hiking, skiing, looking after her own wee garden, as well as, hand crafting such as, crochet and knitting. She also enjoys extensive travel experiences.
Laurent Hilty (Laure)
Senior Landscaping Specialist
“I love working in the landscaping industry because it combines so many things that interest me; plants, the outdoors, gardening and working with timber." While Laure has really enjoyed working in both the viticulture industry and as an Arborist he really loves the creative nature of landscaping and the satisfaction that comes at the end of a 'Green Therapy' garden transformation. Laure's role includes both soft and hard landscaping. He has extensive landscaping experience and particularly enjoys working with new/interesting plants and unique timber. Using his experience and problem solving skills to find practical solutions that enable imaginative landscaping designs to come to life, is especially rewarding to Laure. “Green therapy is a great place to work because of the interesting variety of work, as well as the fun and friendly working atmosphere. A real strength of the team is the way we combine all our ideas and skills to create the best end result” Laure's outside hobbies include cycling, ski touring, tramping and international travel.
Senior Landscaping Specialist
Kurtis came back to NZ and joined the Green Therapy crew in 2021, after his landscaping career OE in Scotland, UK. As well as bringing great practical skills to the business, he also bought back a good bit of Scottish attitude and humour. Kurtis may be the youngest member of the team, however, he's not afraid to speak up and offer intuitive design solutions. This passion and confidence is exactly what Green Therapy encourage from all team members. Kurtis has a natural confidence with all things practical and a great eye for detail. Outside of work, an apparent lack of actual fish hasn’t deterred Kurtis from enjoying fishing and the great outdoors. He also has a passion for team sports such as rugby, which he plays regularly.
Harry joined the Green Therapy crew in 2023 in a casual capacity after graduating from Canterbury University with a wealth of knowledge in the biological sciences. Harry brings a great work ethic, good humour and can do attitude to the team and has worked hard supporting the rest of the team with physical labour on some of our toughest sites, to ensure we deliver beautifully crafted outdoor spaces to our clients. Outside of work, Harry has a passion for indoor and outdoor climbing and incorporates his hardworking ethos into personal sport training.
Hugh Billings (Stiggy)
Hugh has a passion for working outdoors and particularly enjoys improving and crafting spaces where people can sit and enjoy their garden outlook. The natural part of the business, the opportunity to work with plants and getting his hands dirty, is an aspect of the job he enjoys most. Hugh's talent lies in soft landscaping, planting positioning, shaping of plants and trees to create windows of outlook and using soft landscaping to compliment the hard landscaping spaces, created by other members of the team. Hugh has been with Green Therapy since the beginning and say's, 'it's a good team of people, who work well together and a great company to work for'. He feels comfortable bouncing ideas around with the team and feels everyone shares a common goal of improving the business and creating the best spaces possible, within the given budget. In his free time, it's no surprise that Hugh enjoys spending time in places of natural beauty, either on foot, bike, ski's or simply relaxing on a beanbag.
Trent brings a range of experiences to the Green Therapy team. A teacher in one of his past lives he has also worked on various construction and creative projects over the years. An artist, athlete and activist his approach is say "yes" then work out the solution. He loves a challenge and thrives in the problem-solving environments thrown up on Green Therapy projects.

Feedback we've received...
"We have lived happily in our 115year old villa for 20years and this summer, so far, has been a particular joy for us to immerse ourselves in the space which Bryce, Laure, Alyesha, Curtis & Hugh created for us, a couple of months ago. Their combined vision, knowledge, practical skills and willingness to transform vague hopes & dreams into our new garden reality. After such a short time, without unnecessary disruption for us, their hard work and engaging personalities left us with results which exceeded our expectations. Their extraordinary ability to listen, offer ideas and leave us with such a pretty, restful and low-maintenance garden is the best example of therapy for anyone who treasures what nature has to offer. Coming seasons will be constant reminders of how glad we are to have chosen the Green Therapy team."
